Get ready to Stayawake in Portsmouth

Pop-punkers and label new boys The Stayawakes will be rocking Portsmouth with a gig at the Loft on 19th February with Burnt Tapes, Harker and Misgivings. It should be a banger!
This is in advance of their new album on Engineer Records and their catchy as hell track ‘Oh, telephone’ on the new Lamp Light 3 compilation.

Coffee in my veins

‘Coffee in my veins’ is the first single taken from the new 2020 CD release by Tonota 80 entitled ‘Everybody’s Famous’ which is available as a CD and digital download at www.tonota80.bandcamp.com and through http://engineerrecords.com
The lyrics are about the aging process, health and loneliness whilst still trying to stay positive and being there for those worse off than yourself. You can check out the new video here: https://youtu.be/Qh2wCFgSGBg and you can order the new CD direct from the band or the label now.

We spoke with then band about the new song and they told us:
DAVE. This reminds me of 70s rock/hard rock. The keyboards just before the second verse sounds like something one of those hairy bands would do. Lovely backing vocals from Rick in the chorus and another of my favourite vocal performances from John.
RICK. Coffee In My Veins has it all! This was the trickiest to play for me. Graham at Cyclone mastering thought it sounded like Rush!
JOHN. This song is the most honest song I’ve ever written. It’s all about me! It would be better to explain the lyrics to this song over a beer. I really enjoyed singing this. It rocks like mad and we’re very tight.

Lamp Light The Fire, Volume 3 is coming soon…

Engineer Records is proud to announce Lamp Light The Fire, Volume 3: A Compilation of Quiet(ER) Songs, arriving on March 13th, 2020.
Our third album in this series, which highlights musicians recording songs of lighter fare. Whether from a singer-songwriter or a full band ensemble, no blaring or thrashing songs will be found within…not that we’re opposed to that elsewhere! All but one track will be unique to this comp up until the release date, so get ready on March 13th for a first time listen to songs from these musicians.
We’ll be posting individual band features from Volume 3 in our social feeds, about twice a week up to and through the release, beginning tomorrow to raise awareness of the groups.
So, without further ado, allow us to introduce the bands (alphabetised, not in trackless order):
• The 65’s
• Atlanta Arrival
• Baby Did a Bad Thing
• Bear Away
• Jeff Caudill
• Fairmont
• Graveyard Ghost Story
• Hail Taxi
• Holler and the Hand
• Old Currents
• Ben Parcell
• Rev. Kev and His One Ring Circus
• The Stayawakes
• JM Stevens
• That Dream Was Our Life
• Wlots
If you’d like to familiarise yourself with Volumes 1 (2012) & Volume 2 (2016), please do so now via http://www.engineerrecords.bandcamp.com as well as various digital outlets.
