Nearly two years after their debut, which was hailed as one of the best independent releases of the year 2009, the band Setting The Woods On Fire celebrates the official world premiere of their sophomore release. The EP Ruins is also STWOF’s first album on ENGINEER RECORDS. The material was recorded on analog tape and produced at the Prusiewicz Sound Studio near Krakow. Having entrusted the mastering of their debut LP to the Appleseed Cast’s Chris Crisci, the musicians have once again chosen to work with the best in the field — New York’s Turtle Tone Studios. Michael Fossenkemper, who has worked with such artists as The Get Up Kids, The Casket Lottery, Coalesce, The Umbrellas, Brandtson and Dizzee Rascal, is the man behind the final sound of Ruins.

Ruins packs a monstrous dose of energy, noise, and emotion. The skill with which the band produces their relentless wall of guitar noise is second only to their great technique and their rare talent for writing thoughtful and addictive melodies. It displays a fresh yet mature side to a band that doesn’t shy away from experimenting in order to find their own unique sound.
