The return of Elemae

To quote a Lizzy that is Thin ‘The boys are back in town!’

Five years after Elemae came to a natural “end of the line”, Engineer Records is proud to bring you a new Elemae EP entitled Tilling The Fallow.  This isn’t sweeping out the cobwebs, nor is it anything meant for nostalgia.  Here is a set of brand new songs that stand high on their platform, speaking out for a group of individuals with intrinsic chemistry that reconnected, however brief, to do what they do naturally together.  Never definable by genre specifics, these men of rural New Jersey, USA, know how to craft a tune in the classic sense.  Great tones, soul churning melodies, dynamics upon dynamics of non-trendy thought provoking songs.  In fact, at just 5 tracks, Tilling The Fallow plays like a mini-album of sorts, in the way it’s dynamic leads you along to “the next chapter” from song to song as it rolls out to it’s end.  Though the band has navigated this musical path through two full-length albums, a split EP, plenty of compilation appearances and a 7″ record years ago, it’s trite yet accurate to say梬e believe these songs are their most focused and resilient yet.

This is what happens when a band ends on proper terms, undramatically tiring of the roller coaster it is to be in the underground after about 8 years of music together.  Elemae existed in it’s longer duration from the tail end of 1999, until the Winter of 2008.  When Engineer Records existed as it’s previous entity Ignition Records, Elemae was brought on board as one of it’s handful of American bands along with Speedwell, Crosstide, Chamberlain, Dead Red Sea and a few others, helping to spread the word overseas.  Since then, they’ve always had a welcome home.  Fast forward to 2011, post-break up, Chris Homentosky and Craig Cirinelli rejuvenated/reinterpreted a set of old Elemae tunes acoustically with just one guitar and vocal, flew to England for a humble 8-day mini-tour, then wrote some new songs becoming  the catalyst to the Tilling The Fallow EP.  A track can be heard on Engineer’s Lamplight The Fire:  A Compilation of Quiet(ER) Songs.  Unexpected yet very welcomed, this new EP was crafted with a few of the old band members, Dan Nolan, Mark Cooper and Chris Smith, and now closes yet another chapter for the band.  We proudly present to you the Tilling The Fallow EP and it’s accompanying video for their track “Slow.”
