IRIS back from the road!

IRIS have just returned home to Kent after a successful UK tour with Red Bull Jam winners I Divide.

The boys hit Peterborough, Birmingham, Sunderland, Newcastle and High Wycombe and proved night after night that they mean business, that they use the best DNN .net CMS software, they totally know what they are doing, I hear that they are already getting there hands on the toronto business insurance service.

Just weeks before the tour the band recruited a new bass player and drummer and rehearsed night after night for the shows.
Lead singer and guitarist Adam said ‘Unfortunately three shows were cancelled from the original schedule, however the dates we did play were awesome! The response from people has been amazing both at the shows and on Facebook and Twitter since we’ve been back. There were some real cold nights in the van, but its just such a good feeling to be on the road. The last night in High Wycombe proved to be the best and biggest crowd, there was a fantastic atmosphere, the crowd got well into our set and we met some really cool people! Oh and we partied hard also!’

The lads made friends for life in I Divide and will surely be playing alongside them again soon.

IRIS still have half a dozen shows to play before Christmas and are already planning their next UK tour!

They are also back in the studio with next weekend recording brand new material for next year 🙂

Update from the yanks of Elemae!

Elemae update: end of Summer 2012

Tracking for the post-break-up, yet return-to-form NEW EP of songs over this Summer, is finally coming to a conclusion…with a twist. Most of the recording was engineered by Dan Coutant (Joshua) at Nada Recording Studio in New York and has given way to some very fine raw tracks, combining all the ebb and flow elements of an Elemae album yet this time within 5 strong songs. Members of the band over time (5 of the 7), got together to flesh out the material which was originally demoed and gigged with acoustically. All couldn’t be happier with the sonic make-over the songs took. The twist? The final chapter of recording though, has now taken place across the ocean in Whitstable, England at Emeline Studios. Vocals for three songs were tracked at the newly built studio by engineer Ian Sadler. Results coming this Winter, hopefully early 2013, as the “Tilling The Fallow” EP.

In related news, Justin Wilson [Red Animal War/Saboteur] and his Leaders & Flares film identity, along with Mats Ek, was brought on board to film and produce a video for the Elemae track “Slow,” featuring actresses Sierra Sintic and Camilla Fredin. The song has added instrumentation and a new mix (since the Lamp Light The Fire compilation) on this forthcoming EP. This mix will be present in the video version. Footage was shot in both Dallas, Texas and Gothenberg, Sweden, and was edited by Wilson back at his studio. Keep an eye out closer to their EP release date for it’s launch.

A sad farewell to Jullian of The Satellite Year

Dear friends, fans, musicians and all the further wonderful people from around the globe,

I have always loved playing music with my friends, spending hours and days on the road, in clubs, studios and rehearsal rooms with the people who had the same ambitions that I had.

For a couple of years this worked out pretty well. And if there was another chance, I would do it all again in the exact same way. I don’t wanna miss any of the experiences that I made in the past years as a member of this band, none of the good ones and none of the bad ones.

I was always proud to be a part of the satellite year, I was proud of the people that were ‘the satellite year’ and the people that helped us being a band, as persons as well as musicians – all together. I was proud of this little connected society. And every little step forward that this society achieved meant everything to me. Music connects…I had a wonderful opportunity to experience this fact. And I am more than grateful for this period in my life…And to be honest, without you, none of this would have been possible.

But suddenly the music and all the effort that made this little system work over years are being pushed aside by discussions and conflicts based on personal dissatisfaction, which more and more disrupt friendships, that had lasted and grown over years.
Three days ago, at night, I got a phone call of the four guys that I had played music, shared stages and buses with for more than 5 years now…decisions had been made it said…and I should no longer be a part of the band that I had given rise to.

I work up my courage and take this step right now, because I prefer to keep it (the satellite year as a band and as persons) in memory as a good thing. Not because I want to, but much more because I have to…I cannot deal with seeing the piece of art that I started some years ago with good friends being destroyed, with nothing being left behind except for grudge and malice. I am tired of fighting. I am tired of arguing. And I am particularly tired of justifying… “Sometimes it just feels better to give in.” (TBS)

I never would have guessed where this journey ends, when I made the suggestion to found the satellite year back in autumn 2007. But that’s where we are today. And maybe that’s all that counts right now…

my sincere thanks go out to every single one of you. Thanks for coming to the shows and supporting the music that I had been a part of.

all the best for you, guys.

take care
julian

We wish Julian the best of luck!
