Hey y’all! Check out this review of “Pyramids” by (Damn) This Desert Air from musicalnews.com. The original review is in Italian at http://www.musicalnews.com/articolo.php?codice=26794&sz=4 so regardez vous an English re-working;
The last few years have been very intense for U.S band [Damn] This Desert Air. In just six years they have scored two albums and two EPs that have made them known all over the world. [Damn] This Desert Air are an impressive group in all areas. This is because the components of the band have more than a decade behind them forged in the underground rock scene. Some band members also carry out other projects. The leader singer, Craig Cirinelli is in impressive bands such as The World Concave and Hidden Cabins.
“Pyramids” makes it clear immediately the mood of the album. Just note the cover in the foreground with a giant pyramid. A gigantic pyramid is a perfect metaphor to describe the sound of [Damn] This Desert Air. It’s not a powerful sound but seems to us more like the centre of an atomic explosion. Such is the force that the five American rockers put into every piece of “Pyramids”. It’s a torrential sound, never subdued, full of power and will certainly make a deadly effect to your ears. Of course you have to give reference to some areas. “Pyramids” is a big sound with guitars that are not unlike Muse. There is also some introspection akin to Radiohead. The album is an attack sound that owes much to the American post-hardcore in recent years.
A perfect album, starting from registration. A bomb that will surely destroy the speakers of your hi-fi without mercy. It’s an album recorded and produced by a team that knows exactly what they want. If the band are already in the studio playing at these levels I dare not imagine what might happen when they play live!
If you’re looking for a different album to listen to then “Pyramids” makes a good case. [Damn This Desert Air] are a band capable of going hand in hand with lovers of big rock, post-hardcore and heavy metal. A good result for a great band.
